About McGuire Earth Works Inc.

Under Orangevale's topsoil sits a stubborn mix of clay hardpan and decomposed granite, and any yard that puddles after a rain is telling you about it. McGuire Earth Works Inc. moves that ground — grading and leveling, drainage, soil work, clearing and lot preparation, the earth-moving that has to happen before a lawn can ever take hold. Late summer into fall is the season for it, when the dirt works dry and the first storms are still weeks out. A yard that sheds water instead of holding it is invisible work, and that is precisely what makes it satisfying. Whatever comes afterward — grass, patio, planting — finally has something solid to sit on.
