Undirt Services

About Undirt Services

Some mornings the fog pushes in off the estuary before the port cranes have finished taking shape, and that grey hour is when Undirt Services gets the mowers moving. Oakland's flatland yards hold their dew late, and grass cut damp lays down in stripes you can read from the sidewalk. The work is plain and repeatable: mowing, edging, trimming, and hauling off what comes up with it. By the time the sun burns the last of the marine layer off Telegraph, the clippings are bagged, the walkway is blown clear, and the edge along the driveway runs straight as a chalk line. In a city of Victorians, corner stores and cracked sidewalk squares, a tidy front lawn is the first thing anybody sees, and this crew takes that personally.
