About Down To Earth Landscaping Inc

Montclair sits in a fold of the hills where redwoods still throw shade across half the yards, and the grass makes do with whatever light gets through. Down To Earth Landscaping Inc works that shade: mowing on a tighter round through the wet winter, aerating soil the rain has compacted, overseeding the thin ground beneath the trees. Storms come through in January hard enough to bring limbs down, and the cleanup afterward — branches, needles, the whole slick brown mat of it — is half the season's work. Between rains the crew edges the paths and beds so the green reads clean against the dark duff. It smells like bay laurel up here once a storm passes, and the lawns come back the color of new moss.
