Brush Pros

About Brush Pros

By August the Oakland hills have gone the color of straw, and every slope above Skyline Boulevard is one long argument for keeping things cut short. Brush Pros works those grades — clearing brush back from fence lines and driveways, mowing dry weeds on the steep ground no rider can hold, opening a clean band of space around a house. Down in the flats the same crew handles the ordinary week: mowing, edging, string trimming, loading the green waste out to the truck. Hill work is slow work, uphill and sideways, and the payoff is turning around at the top and seeing bare ground where the tangle used to be. When the first real rain comes in off the Pacific, that cleared slope greens up faster than anything around it.
