Turf City

About Turf City

East of the terminal the cranes stand over the harbor like a row of herons, and at the end of a working day the light turns them orange. Turf City spends its hours a few blocks from that skyline, putting green underfoot where green is hard to hold — synthetic turf cut to the shape of the yard, seams hidden, edges anchored so nothing lifts at the corner. Lawn care rides alongside it: mowing, edging, trimming and cleanups for the yards still growing the old way. Backyards here are small and used hard, by kids and dogs and folding chairs. The aim is a surface that takes all of that and still looks good on a Sunday.
