Penning Landscapes

About Penning Landscapes

The first real rain of November changes the sound of Coombsville: the oaks let go, the ground drinks, and within a couple of weeks the hills east of Napa turn a green that holds all winter. Penning Landscapes works that turn — mowing and edging on the new growth's schedule, clearing leaves out of the beds, cutting hedges and shrubs back into shape before the wet months settle in for good. Weeds arrive with the rain too, and staying ahead of them in December saves a month of grief in March. A lawn cut clean on a gray, dripping morning has its own kind of order, dark and tidy and ready for whatever comes next. That result is worth the drive out any weekday of the year.
