About Jonescape

Toward the Claremont line the jacarandas let go all at once in late spring, and for two weeks the sidewalks and lawns of the east side of Montclair go purple. Jonescape works right through it — mowing, edging, blowing the walks clear, raking the blossoms off the turf before they mat down and burn a shape into the grass. Spring is a running argument between growth and neatness, and the answer is simply showing up on schedule. The reward is a lawn with a straight border at the drive, the walk swept clean, and the tree overhead allowed to do whatever it likes. That is a good-looking street in May.
