At Clam Beach the wind comes off the water with sand in it, and every yard between the dune grass and Central Avenue takes some of that weather personally. Lost Coast Lawns works against the salt and the shove of it: mowing to a consistent height, edging back the creep along concrete, trimming fence lines and post bases, and clearing the storm litter that gathers under a hedge. Out here a lawn is a windbreak's neighbor as much as a decoration, and keeping it thick is half the defense. There is a small triumph in a February afternoon when the sky finally opens, the mower goes out, and the yard looks deliberate again.
