The Mad River comes down out of the hills, slows across its own gravel bars, and hands the flats below town the soil that everything here grows in. Living Earth Landscapes works from that ground up — aeration to open compacted turf, overseeding and feeding, mowing and edging on a rhythm, weed control, bed cleanups, and hauling the debris away afterward. Winter on the flats is more water than a lawn knows what to do with, so drainage, root depth and a little patience matter more than any quick fix. What comes of it is a yard that holds up: springy underfoot in August, still green in the gray of February. The crew covers McKinleyville and the river bottom over toward Arcata.
