About Better City Tree Services, Inc.

The Carquinez Strait pulls a cool wind through Martinez most afternoons, up from the waterfront and the ship channel and over the hillside streets that look down on it. Better City Tree Services, Inc. works those slopes, trimming eucalyptus and pine that have grown tall and top-heavy above a rooftop, pruning oaks back from the eaves, removing a tree whose lean has stopped being a question. On a hill, direction is everything, and each limb is rigged and lowered rather than let go. Winter means rain that softens the ground and gusts that find whatever the ground has loosened, so storm damage cleanup is a real part of the season: drive cleared, roof relieved of weight, cut wood carried out. What is left behind is a place that looks looked-after from the bottom of the street.
