Navlan's Landscape

About Navlan's Landscape

Sand Dune Park keeps a hundred-foot wall of loose sand in the middle of a neighborhood, and everything green around it grows in that shadow — the shaded lawn below, the ice plant on the banks, the strip where sand and turf keep negotiating a border. Navlan's Landscape works the yards in that corner of Manhattan Beach with the same patience: mowing under the canopy where the grass grows thin, edging a line that sand would happily erase, trimming the groundcover back off the path. Morning fog sits in the hollow later than it does up on the ridge, so the crew often starts in half-light and finishes in full sun. Weeds come out, the turf gets fed, and the walks get cleared of whatever drifted in. Green ground held against a sand hill is a small, stubborn victory.
