Rool Off Yard.

About Rool Off Yard.

October arrives in Los Angeles on a dry east wind that empties the trees in a single afternoon and packs every side yard with brush. That is the day Rool Off Yard. is busiest — yard cleanouts, brush and green-waste removal, and the hauling that turns a cluttered lot back into usable ground. Palm fronds, old fence boards, the pile behind the garage that has been growing since spring: it all goes, and what is left is a yard you can walk across again. There is a plain pleasure in an emptied space, swept down, the gate closing on nothing but bare earth and light. Across the flats and the hill streets alike, the job reads the same — take it away, leave the place better than you found it.
