About Artscape Gardens

Hancock Park keeps its deep parkways and its magnolia shade, and in April the lawns there run a heavy, generous green that asks to be kept in line. Artscape Gardens does the keeping — mowing in straight passes, edging the long front walks, shaping the boxwood so a facade sits square behind it. Midday sun comes through the big trees in coins of light, and the mower leaves its pale and dark stripes behind. Trimmings are cleared off the walkways and the drive is blown clean before the truck pulls away. The result is simple and pleasing: a lawn with a drawn edge, a hedge with a true line, a street that looks composed end to end.
