In December and January, coho salmon push up Lagunitas Creek to spawn, and people gather quietly along the banks to watch them flash red in the clear water. That is the heart of winter in Lagunitas, a small wooded town at the western end of the San Geronimo Valley. Tuyub Landscaping tends gardens and lawns here, mowing, trimming, and clearing away the leaves and branches that the rains bring down. When spring follows the wet months, everything bursts into growth at once, and a regular hand keeps it all in shape. A trim lawn under tall trees, with the creek murmuring nearby, is western Marin at its most peaceful.
