The first real rain after a Laguna Niguel summer is an event — dust settles, the air goes sharp, and the dry slopes above Moulton Parkway turn faintly green within the week. Salt & Sage Gardens works with that turn: mowing and edging as the grass wakes, clearing the dry months out of the beds, pulling weeds while the soil is loose, feeding so the lawn can actually use the water it is finally getting. Between storms the town smells of wet stone and eucalyptus, and there is no better morning to be outside working in it.
