Hugo's Gardening

About Hugo's Gardening

When the Santa Anas come down through the pass in October, La Habra wakes to palm fronds in the driveway and half the neighbor's tree spread across the lawn. Hugo's Gardening shows up for that morning and for the fifty ordinary ones around it — mowing, edging, trimming, weeding, and carting off whatever the wind delivered. The grass keeps growing right through the dry season here, so the route runs all year and the yards on it stay a step ahead. In the green weeks after a storm the cutting comes faster and the lines stay clean. It is plain, visible work: you can see the difference from the street before the truck is out of sight.
