Forest Lawn

About Forest Lawn

In a valley of gravel and open sky, a shaded lawn is a small invented forest, and it only stays one because somebody keeps it that way. Forest Lawn tends those green pockets around Indio — mowing and edging turf, trimming the trees and shrubs that throw the shade, clearing leaf and frond litter, and coaxing grass to stay thick right under the canopy where it always wants to thin. Shade and turf are in permanent negotiation here, and managing both at once is most of the craft. Step off a 108-degree street into a well-kept yard and the temperature drop alone tells you the work was worth doing. Serving Indio, Bermuda Dunes, Coachella and Indian Wells.
