About Plant Nerd Inc

The soil under much of Huntington Beach still remembers the bean and celery fields that were here before the tracts, sandy and quick to drain, generous to anything that likes its roots dry. Plant Nerd Inc finds that genuinely interesting, and it shows in how the yards are kept — the right cut height, beds weeded down to bare earth, shrubs pruned in the direction they actually want to grow. Late March is the season for it, when a week of rain has pushed everything into new leaf and the whole town smells green. Curiosity is the method: look at what the plant is doing, then help it do that better. The lawn ends up even, the beds legible, the yard obviously tended by someone who likes plants.
