Dr Sprinkler

About Dr Sprinkler

The marine layer sits over Marina Drive most June mornings, thick enough that the water is only a sound, and the grass is soaked before anyone has opened a door. That is the hour Dr Sprinkler likes for lawn work — cool and quiet, the mower leaving dark tracks in wet turf that dry into pale stripes by ten. Cutting, edging, trimming along fences and walkways, then the clippings carried off so the yard reads finished. By the time the gloom burns away around noon the work is done and the day belongs to somebody else. A well-kept lawn in this town is mostly a matter of showing up early.
