Geared for Growing

About Geared for Growing

June mornings in Healdsburg begin under a gray roof of coastal fog that keeps the whole valley cool until midmorning. That is the mowing hour, and Geared for Growing uses it well — lawns cut in clean passes, edges run tight along the walkways, clippings gone before the sun breaks through. There is real pleasure in a green square of turf holding its own through a long Sonoma County summer, and this crew works for exactly that. From the flat neighborhoods near town to the yards climbing toward Westside Road, the finish they leave behind is crisp enough to see from the street. The fog lifts, the light turns gold, and the grass looks ready for it.
