Guardado's gardening

About Guardado's gardening

By four in the afternoon the light over Hawthorne turns gold, coming in low off an ocean five miles west, and every freshly cut lawn on the block glows for an hour. Guardado's gardening tends the small front gardens that catch it, mowing, edging, trimming, shaping the hedges and bougainvillea back off the walk, and sweeping the concrete clean before the truck rolls. This is gardening at a neighborhood scale, one yard at a time, work done slowly because someone lives behind that window. The reward is the walk-out: a homeowner steps onto the porch, looks down the lawn, and finds nothing left to fix. Guardado's serves Hawthorne along with Lawndale, Inglewood and Del Aire.
