About American Gardens Inc

Late in May the jacarandas over Hawthorne let go all at once, and for a few weeks the streets, the cars and the lawns are all wearing purple. American Gardens Inc works right through that drift, mowing, edging, trimming the shrubs back to shape and clearing the fallen bloom off the grass before it mats down. It is a lawn care business built on regular visits rather than big gestures: the same yards, the same day, cut to the same height, so nothing ever gets away from anyone. There is real satisfaction in the finish, that moment the mower shuts off and the lawn reads as one even sheet of green from the curb. In a city of compact front yards between Prairie and Inglewood Avenue, that evenness is the whole show. The crew keeps yards in Hawthorne and the neighboring blocks of Lawndale, Gardena and Inglewood.
