About Mikes Lawn Service

Hanford wakes before the light does. Out at Civic Center Park, the old courthouse takes the first gold of the morning above its square of green, and by then the mowers are already loaded and rolling toward the next street. Mikes Lawn Service works the neighborhoods of Kings County the way this flat country asks to be worked — early, before the heat stands up — mowing, edging, trimming back the hedges, blowing the walks until nothing is left but the smell of cut grass. There is a plain and honest pleasure in a yard that looks looked-after by eight in the morning. Level ground shows every line you draw on it, and that is exactly the point.
