About Gardens landscaping

The ground around Gridley is river-laid loam, deep and dark, the kind of soil the Feather River spent centuries putting down — and it will grow nearly anything you ask of it. Gardens landscaping asks. Beds are dug and planted, lawns brought along, yards worked into shape in a town that grows kiwis by the ton just beyond its edges. When the dirt is this good, the gardener's job is mostly to get out of its way with intelligence: right plant, right spot, water where it counts. The results come up fast and stay. A garden here doesn't need coaxing so much as company, and that is what it gets.
