About Kurt's Garden

Fair week arrives in August and the Nevada County Fairgrounds smell like hot pine duff and popcorn under the tallest ponderosas in town. Kurt's Garden tends the smaller version of that all year in Grass Valley: lawns mowed and edged, beds weeded and cleaned out, shrubs trimmed back, clippings carted away. Gardens in these foothills swing hard between a soaked February and a rainless September, and the work follows that swing without complaint. A tended garden in dry season is a deliberate green thing in a gold landscape, and that contrast never gets old. Grass Valley, Nevada City and Alta Sierra keep the calendar full.
