Foothill yards run uphill and down, so mowing happens on ground that never gives an easy straight pass, and getting an even cut on a slope is its own quiet accomplishment. By July the same lawns want a higher blade and a steadier rhythm. Grass Valley, Alta Sierra and the roads down toward Auburn make up most of the week.
