About Billy Goodnick - Landscape Architect

From the Goleta foothills the valley reads as a plan already half-drawn: creeks running seaward, oaks holding the high ground, houses set into the folds. Billy Goodnick works as a landscape architect in that grain — drawing garden layouts and planting plans that suit the ground they sit on, then advising on how a yard should be kept once it is in. Design here means reckoning with dry summers, a rainy season that arrives all at once, and light coming off the Pacific in a particular way. Lawn care and ongoing garden maintenance follow the drawing, holding the shape as it was intended. A garden that still makes sense five years on is the whole point.
