About Lona's Gardening Service

The bungalow streets off Van Ness keep their yards small and their standards high — a square of lawn, a rose or two, a hedge along the drive, all of it visible from the porch chair. Lona's Gardening Service tends that scale of yard across Gardena: mowing the little lawns even, edging the walk, trimming the shrubs so the front window keeps its view, and pulling weeds by hand where a machine would do damage. Saturday morning is when a block like that gets looked at hardest, and it ought to hold up. The trimmings leave, the path is swept, and the roses are given room to be seen. Small yards are not less work — they are closer work.
