In Fremont's Niles district, Alameda Creek spills out of its canyon past a main street where silent films were shot more than a century ago, and the sycamores along the creek drop broad leaves in November. Landscapes by Jaime works in a city with that kind of layered history, where older homes stand beside newer ones and every yard has its own story. Autumn is a fine season for the work: cooler afternoons, the first rains softening the ground, the air smelling of creek water and fallen leaves. Jaime shapes lawns and plantings so a property looks at ease against that backdrop. This is yard work with a sense of place, in a city that remembers where it came from.
