Toro‘s lawn handlers

About Toro‘s lawn handlers

Six in the morning in Yucaipa, midsummer: the air off the lakes at the Regional Park is still cool, and the mowers are already running. Toro's lawn handlers works the front half of the day, because by two o'clock the thunderheads are stacking up white and enormous over Old Greyback and the heat has settled in to stay. Mowing, edging, string trimming down the fence lines, hedges brought back into shape, clippings gathered — all of it done while the shade is still on that side of the house. There is a particular satisfaction in a lawn cut early, dew tracks showing faintly in the stripes. The crew is gone before noon and the yard looks like nobody was ever there.
