About R E Badger & Son Inc

When the winter storms finally reach Olivenhain, the runoff finds Escondido Creek and the east side of town smells like wet sage for a week. R E Badger & Son Inc keeps grounds through that stretch and through the long dry half that follows: mowing and edging on a route, slopes cut back before they get away, irrigation walked head by head, leaves and storm debris pulled out of the beds. Properties out that way are big and uneven — pads and banks, decomposed-granite drives, oaks down at the bottom of a draw — and they reward a crew that knows where water wants to go. There's real satisfaction in pulling off a place at dusk and seeing every line straight and every drain running clear. That's the job: a property that looks unbothered no matter what the sky did.
