Ecology Artisans

About Ecology Artisans

By August the hills east of Encinitas have gone the color of straw, and the coastal sage holds the only green left in the canyons. Ecology Artisans works with that reality — planting and maintaining grounds suited to the dry months, tuning irrigation, mowing and edging the lawn areas people actually use, clearing brush where it crowds a house. Water is the whole argument in this corner of California, and every pass with a mower or a valve wrench takes a side in it. When the first storms arrive in late fall, ground prepared for them drinks the rain instead of shedding it down the street. From the creek drainages to the blocks near the sea, the work is meant to sit lightly on the land.
