Green Sunsets

About Green Sunsets

The name is earned honestly: El Sobrante's ridgeline runs west of town, and on clear evenings the sun sets the whole valley in gold before it goes. Green Sunsets does its best work toward that end of the day — lawns mowed and edged so the low light finds nothing out of place, hedges trimmed so their shadows fall clean across the grass. The trade is regular care: weekly cuts, seasonal cleanups, beds weeded, walkways blown clear. A lawn looks its greenest in slanting light, and there is a quiet thrill in finishing a yard just as the color arrives. It is a small show, staged street by street, and this business never tires of it.
