Each winter, sandhill cranes and drifts of white geese settle onto the wetlands of the Merced National Wildlife Refuge near El Nido, their calls carrying across the fields at dusk. Green Max Landscape does landscaping and lawn care in this quiet corner of the San Joaquin Valley, where the land lies flat, the soil runs rich and the growing season is long.
