J.S. Jardineria

About J.S. Jardineria

A mockingbird runs through its whole repertoire from a wire above Lambert Park most evenings, and the yards below settle into that blue half hour when the day's heat finally lets go. Jardinería is the ordinary, essential work of that hour and every hour before it — mowing, edging, trimming, pruning hedges and shrubs, weeding, mulching, planting, and clearing a yard when a season closes. El Monte grows things nearly all year, so nothing here is a one-time visit; it is a rhythm kept. The visible part is easy to read from the sidewalk — the cut is even, the edge is sharp, the beds are clear. The rest is simply showing up when the grass says so.
