Al's Tree Care

About Al's Tree Care

From the streets up on the City Terrace hills you can see the downtown towers standing in the morning haze, and the old pepper trees along the curb are the first thing to move when a breeze finally comes up. Al's Tree Care works these hillside blocks and the flats below them — trimming canopies clear of rooflines and porches, pruning back growth that has crowded a small yard out of its own light, removing trees that have gone hollow or lifted a walkway, and clearing up after a storm has come through hard. Yards in East Los Angeles are compact and thoroughly used, so a properly shaped tree hands the whole space underneath it back to the people living there. The pleasure is in that reveal: the sweep-up done, the branches lifted, the light falling where it should. Steady work, one address at a time.
