The Garden Scout

About The Garden Scout

By May the manzanita has finished blooming and the deer come down through the brush toward the Bear River drainage as though they own the road, which mostly they do. The Garden Scout mows and keeps lawns in that country between Colfax and Chicago Park: steady cuts, crisp edging along beds and borders, trimming around trunks and fence posts, and tidying planting beds so the lawn has something to be a lawn against. Foothill yards are half planted and half wild, and the craft is deciding exactly where that line falls and then holding it. Warm afternoons, long evenings, grass that gains an inch the moment you look away. We serve Colfax, Chicago Park, Meadow Vista and out toward Grass Valley.
