Cayucos keeps its yards small and its horizons enormous. A few blocks from the old pier, Leo Polo Yardwork mows lawns that live with salt air — grass misted by fog at breakfast and dried by sea wind before noon. The work is honest and close to the ground: mowing, trimming, weeding, hauling away whatever the season drops. Beach-town yards collect sand in the beds and salt on the leaves, and the job is to keep them green anyway. From Cayucos, the rounds reach Morro Bay, Los Osos, and Cambria up and down the coast.
