Peregrine Defensible Space

About Peregrine Defensible Space

On hot August afternoons the bark of the Jeffrey pines above Carnelian Bay gives off a scent like vanilla, and the forest floor crackles with a season's worth of fallen needles. Peregrine Defensible Space works the zone around each house, raking needles, cutting back brush and limbing up low branches so a home sits inside a cleaner, more open margin of forest. Like the falcon it is named for, the work takes in the whole scene from above: what sits close to the walls, what reaches toward the eaves, what might carry a spark. A finished lot feels spacious and park-like, the lake glinting between trunks that now stand clear. It is protective work that lets people enjoy the woods they came for.
