About Rock's Tree & Hillside Service Inc.

Burbank ends where the mountain begins, and the last streets up in the hills sit against slopes of chaparral that dry to tinder by June. Rock's Tree & Hillside Service Inc. works that edge — tree trimming and removal, stump work, brush clearance on steep ground, and hauling the cut material back down. Hillside work is rope-and-footing work: nothing rolls uphill, and everything has to come out along a driveway that switchbacks. By late summer the cleared ground around a house reads as a margin of open space, which is precisely the point of it. Then the winter rain arrives and the whole slope starts over green.
