About The Valley Gardener Operating, Inc.

January is the valley's secret season: the first real rains land, and within weeks the hills around Buellton turn an improbable, glowing green. The Valley Gardener Operating, Inc. treats that turn as the start of the gardening year — beds cut back and composted, roses pruned, lawns repaired while the ground is soft and willing. Through spring and summer the visits keep the momentum: mowing, feeding, shaping, and the patient editing that separates a garden from a collection of plants. The name says gardener on purpose; this is close, attentive work done by hand where hands do it best. A garden in this valley can bloom most of the year if someone keeps up with it, and keeping up is the entire trade. Their clients' yards are green before the hills are, and still green after the hills fade.
