Johnny's Yard Care

About Johnny's Yard Care

Saturday in old downtown Brentwood starts slow — stalls going up near the depot, the smell of coffee and stone fruit, people walking home with more produce than they meant to buy. Johnny's Yard Care is already three yards into the morning by then, mowing while the day is still reasonable and edging the borders back to a crisp line. Weekend work suits a town where people spend their Saturdays outside; a lawn cut early is a lawn that gets used by noon. The visit is mowing, edging, trimming the awkward corners, and clearing every clipping off the walk, done in a rhythm that has been repeated enough times to be quick without being careless. Small yards, steady work, and a street that looks a little sharper by lunchtime.
