About Mazingira Landscape and Design

Above Codornices Creek the ground climbs in terraces, and a garden in that part of Berkeley has to be drawn before it can be grown. Mazingira Landscape and Design works in that spirit — planning beds and putting in the plantings, shaping green space to fit the slope it was given, then keeping it in good order month after month. Late afternoon is the honest test: the light slides west toward the Gate and every border and edge shows itself. Regular mowing, pruning and garden cleanup keep the design legible once it is in the ground. A finished garden up here should look as though it grew that way on its own, which takes a great deal of deliberate work to achieve.
