Farallon Gardens

About Farallon Gardens

A few days each winter the air over the Bay goes so clear that from the Berkeley hills you can pick out the Farallones sitting far past the Gate, small and blue on the horizon. Farallon Gardens likes those days best — cold, bright, the ground firm enough to work after a week of rain. Winter here is the growing season, so the mowing carries on, the edges get re-cut where wet grass has crept over them, and the beds are cleared of storm drop. Every yard on those slopes has a view worth protecting, which means hedges kept down and shrub lines held back on purpose. Finishing a property with the horizon opened up again is about as good as this job gets.
