Muck It

About Muck It

February rain in the pass never lasts long, but it finds every low corner of a Beaumont yard and leaves it soft for days afterward. Muck It shows up for exactly that kind of aftermath — the sodden pile of leaves against the fence, the flattened grass, the run-off track cut across the side yard. Cleanup and hauling come first, and once the ground firms up, the mowing and edging bring the lawn back to a shape worth looking at. There is a plain pleasure in loading the last of a mess into the truck and leaving nothing behind but grass. Beaumont, Banning, Cherry Valley and Calimesa all call for it after a wet week.
