Modern Lawn

About Modern Lawn

July in the southwest end of town does not bluff — a hundred and five by two in the afternoon, and the only civilized hour is the one before the sun clears the horizon. Modern Lawn takes that hour, mowing Seven Oaks and Stockdale-side lawns while the dew is still on them and the mower leaves a clean stripe instead of a bruise. Cutting height goes up with the temperature, the edges stay sharp along drive and walk, and the sprinkler heads get checked because a blocked one shows up as a brown circle within a week. Feeding and weed control are timed to the valley's calendar, not a generic one. By breakfast the crew has moved on and the block looks like it beat the heat.
