About Lara Mejia Gardening & Tree Service

Tule fog lies over Bakersfield for days at a stretch in January, and the bare trees inside it are easy to read — every crossing branch, every stub, every crack. Lara Mejia Gardening & Tree Service spends that season pruning, shaping young trees, lifting canopies off roofs and sidewalks, and taking down whatever last summer killed. When the wind pours down out of the Grapevine and the big shade trees give up a limb, the cleanup follows the same day: cut, chip, haul, rake. By June the point of all that winter work turns up as shade across a driveway that was bare the year before. Above the bluffs the valley runs out flat in every direction, and the trees people plant here are the only relief on offer.
