Courts and Greens

About Courts and Greens

At dusk the mountains southeast of Bakersfield go flat blue and the backyard finally cools enough to be worth standing in — which is, not coincidentally, when a putting green gets used. Courts and Greens keeps those surfaces true, tending greens and court surrounds along with the ordinary lawn that frames them. Turf meant for play has to be held to a tighter standard than turf meant for looking at: level, consistent, cut low and even so a ball rolls the way it should. Mowing, edging and detail trimming carry that standard right out to the fence line. A yard built for a game should always be ready for one.
