About Red Spade Land Management

By June the open ground around Avenal has cured to the color of a lion's back, and dry grass becomes work that cannot wait. Red Spade Land Management takes that season head-on — mowing overgrown lots down to stubble, cutting weeds along fences and ditch banks, keeping lots and margins clear while the wind comes hot off the Kettleman Hills. It is lawn care at valley scale: part tidiness, part plain good sense in country this dry. A freshly mowed parcel under a huge western sky has its own severe beauty, and finishing one is the day's reward. Work covers Avenal and the neighboring ground of Coalinga, Huron, and Kettleman City.
