When the first real rain of October reaches the Georgetown Divide, the dust settles, the pines darken, and every oak in Auburn Lake Trails seems to let go of its leaves in a single week. Flore's landscape works that turn of the year with rakes and mowers, clearing drives and lawns before the leaf-fall mats down under winter wet. Through the green months that follow — for in these foothills the grass wakes in winter and rests in summer — yards stay mowed, trimmed, and squared away. There is a particular satisfaction in a cleaned yard under a washed sky, the canyon air sharp and the lawn edges holding their line. That is the standard, one property at a time, from Auburn Lake Trails out toward Cool and Pilot Hill.
